Medicare Parts B & D

Medicare is a health insurance program for: people age 65 or older; people under age 65 with certain disabilities; and people of all ages with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or kidney transplant). CMS is responsible for administering the Medicare Program. The OIG is charged with investigating possible fraud and abuse in the Program.

Medicare consists of four parts, two of which are relevant to the pharmaceutical manufacturer: Part B and Part D.

Medicare Part B is medical insurance which assists patients in covering doctors’ services and outpatient care.

Medicare Part D is a prescription drug coverage plan, for which most participants will pay a monthly premium for.
